The wait was over! The makers had amazed the fans with the looks of the characters, yet again. Ranvir is like Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s own boy gone bad. The menacing look in his eyes of Ranvir Singh as Alauddin Khilji made the girls go weak on their knees once again. The two posters released was intended to show how royal yet fierce he was. The first poster portrays him as wild and blood thirsty conqueror while the second shows him as a royalty. The second king of the Khilji Dynasty. From his kohl-lined eyes to the unmanageable tresses, everything shouts a spirit hard to control. The deadly scar below his right eye is the prize he carries from one of his numerous battles?
Like all the characters Ranvir had portrayed, this time to Ranvir had done all that he could do to get into the skin of his character. He had locked himself in his room for keeps avoiding contact with the outer world. Such was the level of dedication to explore the depths of negativity that his behavior towards his friends and family also changed. Ranvir had to go to the psychiatrist to actually get back to normal.
Ranvir said “I put myself under house arrest for almost a month preparing myself to play Alauddin Khilji. I don’t wish to reveal the exact details of my prep process as it is something that is extremely personal. What I can say, however, is that the entire prep process has been one discovery, exploration and has been extremely rewarding and gratifying”.
The trailer has left us wanting more. The trio of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Deepika Padukone, and Ranvir Singh is a chemical mixture, but Shahid Kapoor, the fourth person joining the bandwagon is a catalyst for a commercially successful film. They have done it before. They will do it again. One has to wait and watch. Will the history repeat itself? Let the magic befall all the audience on the 1st of December.
