1st Indian Woman Wrestler To Join WWE, Kavita Devi Trained By The Great Khali

The 1st woman wrestler to sign a developmental contract with the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) is none other that the 2016 South Asian Games Weightlifting Gold Winner Kavita Devi. The WWE has confirmed that her official training will start in January 2018 at the WWE Performance Center at Orlando, Florida.Kavita Devi is a well trained and experienced weightlifter who has represented India in the 2016 South Asian Games and won the Gold for her Country. Her signature move called The Gorilla Slam is quite famous. The news of her signing the contract was confirmed by Jindar Mahal, the current WWE Champion. The two Indians associated with the WWE are Jindar Mahal aka Yuvraj Singh Desi and The Great Khali aka Dalip Singh Rana. The Great Khali is Kavita’s mentor and has been trained in his training facility in Jalandhar, Punjab called Continental Wrestling Entertainment (CWE) Pvt. Ltd.

She is the 1st Indian to compete in a WWE Ring in the MAE Classic Women’s Tournament. Her video went viral on social media where she was seen wrestling a wrestler named BB Bul Bul wearing a traditional orange colored Salwar Kameez upholding the Indian tradition.

She says that she got selected after a lot of tryouts. There were approximately men and women from vivid backgrounds such as wrestler, footballers, rugby players, weightlifters etc. The tryouts were held in Dubai. Canyon Ceman, The Vice President of the WWE Talent Development said that Kavita is an exception and enthusiastic. He said that she is a strong woman who has a strong grasp of rules of sports entertainment.

The WWE performance center has seven training rings and top facilities required for the training. The training will include in-ring training, physical awareness and character development. Its professional development training will include life skills, education, wellness and Career Success.

Kavita Devi said that she is very happy and privileged to compete in the WWE. Her dream is to be the 1st woman to win the WWE Champions Trophy.
